Terms of use

Last updated:

By using SupportDecode, you agree to these terms. They exist to keep one thing clear: this site publishes information and estimates, not advice, and decisions about your case belong with you, your attorney, and the court.

Estimates, not advice

Everything on this site, including every calculator result, is general information. The results are estimates built from published state rules. The calculation made by a court or a state child support agency is the one that controls, and it can differ from ours. Judges can and do deviate from guideline amounts. The full disclaimer applies to every page.

This site does not give legal advice, and nothing on it should be read as legal advice for your situation. Using the site, or writing to us, does not create an attorney-client relationship. SupportDecode is not a law firm and not a lawyer referral service.

No warranty

We work hard to keep the numbers accurate and to cite official sources, and our methodology page explains how. Even so, the site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability. State rules change, and a page can lag behind the law despite our review process.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, SupportDecode and the people who build it are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the site or reliance on its content, including decisions made, filings prepared, or amounts paid or not paid based on an estimate shown here. Where the law does not allow that limitation, our liability is limited to the smallest amount it permits.

Acceptable use

  • Do not present output from this site as an official or court-issued calculation.
  • Do not remove disclaimers when sharing or printing a result.
  • Do not imply that this site is affiliated with any government agency. It is not.
  • Do not use the site in a way that disrupts it for others, or attempt to break its security.

You are welcome to link to any page. Official statutes, forms, and agency pages we cite belong to their publishers; follow their terms when you use them.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site grows, for example when analytics or advertising are added. The date at the top of this page changes when the terms do, and material changes are listed on the updates page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Entity and governing law
