Factors the court weighs

- Good-faith efforts to maintain employment or become self-supporting
- Reasonable needs of each spouse
- Duration of the marriage
- Amount of property awarded to each spouse
- Type and nature of each spouse’s assets and liabilities
- Income produced by property owned by each spouse
- Agreements entered into in contemplation of dissolution or separation
- Maintenance of medical insurance for the spouse seeking support

Duration limits
- Available forms: A court may award rehabilitative, transitional, or indefinite spousal support and may use a single sum, installments, or property.
